Very few recruitments and direct searches fail because the required skills are insufficient for performing the task, and yet nearly half of recruitments and direct searches are unsuccessful. Instead, 9 out of 10 failures are due to ”attitude and cultural mismatch” (Leadership IQ 2025). That's why we start direct searches with culture.

We always first consider what kind of work community it genuinely is.

What it wants to be is important, but what is most important is what it is, right now. Every community has its own unique way of being that community that it is. This includes bright sides, but also shadows. Often, understanding and accepting the shadows is more important than loving the light. Everyone knows and wants to enjoy the good parts, but the price of culture is paid where it's not always fun. When we understand the culture, we know how to look for a person who doesn't just get by in their work, but brings more strength and unity to the community.

We recognize where expertise is relevant

Skills are visible on a CV, but our job is to interpret them in relation to what the company and the world need right now. We identify where skills are still relevant and where they might already be outdated. We don't look at skills in isolation, but as part of the company's direction, market movement, and the significance of the task.

Naturally, skill requirements always have their limitations, while potential is almost limitless. It's difficult to describe or put into words; you have to see it. It's the ability to grow, to question, to take responsibility before it’s officially given. We recognize it because we've observed people in their work for years and have seen what happens when culture, skills, and potential come together. Sometimes it feels like magic, and that's what we are creating.
